Chaplain Kevin Browne, Major, USAF (Ret), was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up with a deep love for God’s Word and a heart for people who were hurting. After graduating from Cedarville College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education (minor in Psychology), he spent the early part of his career working in Christian social services and residential facilities for youth across Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. One of those roles was as Director of Spiritual Life at the Ohio Veterans’ Children’s Home in Xenia, where he walked alongside kids who had lost so much.
In 1990 he was called to active duty in the United States Air Force. Over the next twenty-three years he served as a chaplain, eventually retiring in 2010 as a Major. His assignments took him to bases across the country and overseas, where he focused on strengthening families, supporting airmen and their loved ones through hard seasons, and building volunteer programs that served entire communities.
After 23 years and retiring from the Air Force, Kevin spent many years in Christian school governance and administration. He served as board member, vice chairman, and administrator at two Christian schools, helping guide both the academic and spiritual formation of students and families.
Today Kevin lives in Holts Summit, Missouri. He serves as Sunday School Superintendent at Grace Bible Church in Columbia and remains actively involved with Trail Life USA as a local Troop Ministry Liaison, Regional Chaplain, State Chaplain, Direct Service Advisor for the Northeast Missouri Region, and New Troop Organizer for the South Central Missouri Region. He is the single adoptive father of one son and has two young grandchildren.

Through all the years — in youth homes, military chapels, school hallways, and church classrooms — Kevin has watched ordinary people stand firm in the face of real darkness. That lifelong calling to serve and to point people toward hope is what eventually led him to begin writing Knights Arise: Order of the Risen Blade. The story grew naturally out of the same conviction that has shaped his entire life: the fight is bigger than flesh and blood, and ordinary believers, surrendered to Christ, can still stand in the gap.
